Rt. Hon. (Chief) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, (JP) was born on the 19th of June, 1963 to the reputable family of Chief Samuel and Mrs Esther Oborevwori of OSUBI town in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He had his early education at Alegbo Primary School, Effurun. He also attended Aladja Grammar School, Aladja. He later went on to Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki.
He attended Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma for a full time programme, where he graduated with B.Sc. Second Class (Hons) Upper Division in Political Science. He subsequently pursued his post graduate education at the Delta State University, Abraka, where he obtained a MSc. in Political Science.
Hon. (Chief) Sheriff Oborevwori is a man who had always availed himself to serve others even in the face of daunting challenges.
Consequently, his people had no hesitation when they elected him as Councilor in 1996, and he was subsequently appointed the Supervisory Councilor for Works in Okpe Local Government Council.
Meanwhile, he was the pioneer Chairman of Osubi Community from 1996 to 2003. Following his developmental strides in Osubi Community as well as other contributions to peace and security, he was given the Chieftaincy title of the UKODO of Okpe Kingdom in 2003, by His Royal Majesty, the Orhorho 1, Orodje of Okpe Kingdom.
The Rt. Hon. (Chief) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, (JP) is happily married with children.
Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri is the Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Nigeria, and a Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the Delta State University, Abraka. He holds a PhD in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan, MA (Distinction) Mass Communication, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Master’s in Industrial and Labour Relations, Delta State University, Abraka; B. A (Hons.) Mass Communication, Delta State University, Abraka; Advanced Diploma and Ordinary Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos; Certificate in Digital Humanities, Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA; Certificate in TV and Film Camera Operations from the then NTA Headquarters, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He has held several appointments within and outside the University system. Until his appointment as the Rector, he has been the Director of Academic Planning at Delta State University, Abraka. He was the Director of the Delta State University Pre-Degree Programme between 2018 and 2021. He was the Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, between 2015 and 2019. In 2018 and 2019, he had the rare honour and responsibility of being a Head of Department and Director combined.
During his tenure as the Head of the Department, he produced the first set of First Class graduates in the Department. He produced a total of six First Class graduates during his tenure. He also established the M.Sc. and PhD programmes in the Department, obtained a full operational NBC License for the University radio station, and secured full accreditation for the Department.
He has won several national and international awards, honours and fellowships. In 2009, he was nominated and invited to the USA by the US Government to participate in the Distinguished USA International Visitors’ Leadership Programme (IVLP) as the African Journalist 2009; he was also invited to participate as a pioneer Fellow of the Brown University, International Advanced Research Institute (BIARI), Providence, Rhode Island, USA. In 2017, the Delta State University (DELSU) Senate awarded him the Most Hardworking HOD with a cash prize; in 2005, he got commendations from the DELSU Senate and the State Government for his fight against examination malpractice. He has several other commendations and awards.
Professor Ufuophu-Biri has visited and presented lectures in different places, including Harvard University, Cambridge, USA; University of Memphis, USA; University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, USA; University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland, Britain; Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA; British Universities Video and TV Council, London, UK. Other places he has delivered lectures include; Dubai, UAE, Ghana, Israel, the Gambia, Senegal, Botswana, South Africa, Ethiopia, Zambia, Liberia, and Kenya, among others.
He has also been the PRO and Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), DELSU Branch and Assistant Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State Council. He has also served as the National President of the DELSU Alumni Association.
He is a Master of Ceremony par excellence and has mastered over 150 ceremonies within and outside Nigeria. He is a talented comedian and short movie producer who has mentored many famous comedians and actors/actresses.
Ufuophu-Biri is widely published nationally and internationally and has attended and participated in numerous conferences, workshops and trainings, both within and outside Nigeria.
The multi-talented Professor, a talented rapper, released a single music track on the Covid-19 war in 2020.
Students and graduates popularly refer to him as a father figure, philanthropist, mentor, great scholar and humanitarian.
He has served as a Visiting Lecturer and External Examiner to several institutions of higher learning, including Cape Peninsular University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa; University of Benin, Benin-City; Benson Idahosa University, Benin-City; NOUN Open University; Western Delta University, Oghara and Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwash.
Dr Samuel Azubike Ogbogu had his early education in Warri, Delta State from where he proceeded to Zik Grammar School Sapele. after his Secondary education, he gained admission into the prestigious University of Benin, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration and graduated among top five in the department. He had his Ms.c Public Administration in the same department and was top five in the Ms.c programme. He continued his academic pursuit to the University of Port Harcourt where he bagged a Ph.D in Administrative Studies ( Development Studies) option from the department of political and Administrative Studies.
He joined the service of Delta state Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara in September, 2005 as Lecturer II in the Department of Social Sciences, School of General Studies from where he rose to the rank of a Chief Lecturer.
He was the pioneer Head of Department of Social Science for two tenures and simultaneously Head of Department, Dean School of General Studies and Treasurer ASUP Zone D. He successfully managed the positions and got commendation from the Union and his department.
It is important to state that he was the pioneer Treasurer of ASUP, Otefe-Oghara before taking up the position of Chairman of ASUP, Otefe-Oghara Chapter for two terms.
He was the secretary 4th ASUP Zone D academic Conference Committee and Chairman 5th ASUP Zone D Conference Committee.
He is a member of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee (SSDC) and and got a letter of commendation. It is worthy of mention, that he is the first Coordinator of Collaboration, Linkage and Exchange Programme and a discussant at the Polytechnic maiden Colloquium.
He had headed over twenty committees in the Polytechnic among which are the National Board for Technical Education Internal Accreditation Committee (NBTE), The Committee for the Expansion of Programmes and the Committee for New Programmes and lately, the Chairman, Committee for the 2nd Combined Convocation of the Polytechnic.
He is a member of several professional bodies namely , The Nigerian Political Science Association, International Research Development Institute, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliatory of Nigeria (ICMC), fellow Institute of Policy and Management Development.
He is an ordained pastor with Christ Embassy and happily married with two boys.
Mr. Efedi, Chukwuemeke was born on the 5th, of October 1970 in Ute- Okpu in IkaNorth East Local Government Area of Delta State.
He attended Telugu primary School, she he obtained his first School Leaving Certificate in1984. He also obtained his WASC in 1989 from Ute-Okpu Grammar School, Ute-Okpu. He graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1995, in the department of Psychology, faculty of Social Science. He also obtained his M.Sc. in Industrial Psychology from Imo State University, Owerri in 2018.
After working in the private industry brierly, he joined the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, Oghara in 2003 as an Administrative Officer 1 were he rose to the position of Registrar In December 2021
Mr. Omokaro Sunday hail from Igun in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. He was born on 16th December, 1976. Mr. Omokaro Sunday started his early education at Ohwoyovwe Primary School, Igun in 1985, where he obtained a distinction grade in his Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1991.
In 1991, he gained admission into Igun Secondary School Igun and completed his Secondary School education in flying colours in 1996.
He had a brief stint with the Integrated Data Service Nigeria Limited. (IDSL) an Oil exploration Company and he was also in the Service of AMOSAS Nigeria Enterprise as a Tender Officer.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Accountancy in 2003 from Delta State University Abraka.
Mr. Omokaro joined the service of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara in 2005 as Accountant II.
Mr. Omokaro Sunday in 2017 became a Chartered Accountants of Nigeria as an Associate Member of the prestigious professional body of global repute ensuing (ACA).
Mr. Omokora’s diligence and commitment to the service of the Polytechnic enthralled the attention of the Polytechnic Management under the able Leadership of Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor as Rector and was graciously appointed as the Polytechnic Auditor in May, 2017.
Mr. Omokaro Sunday’s insatiable thirst for capacity building stirred him back to the Delta State University Abraka to study and obtained a Master Degree in Public Administration in 2023. Presently, he is in the pursuit of a Master degree in accounting in the same University.
The Technocrat, Mr. Sunday Omokaro had attended various local and international conferences in different parts of Nigeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, Dubai in United Arab Emirate and Rwanda among others
Fully equipped with the requisite qualification experience and exposure for higher responsibilities, Mr. Omokaro Sunday was on 10th May, 2024 appointed by His
Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Elder, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori through the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education Prof. Johnbull, Ogheneyerovwo Tonukari as the 4th Substantive Bursar of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, a position he holds till date.
The astute financial expert is happily married to his wife Mrs. Omokaro Blessing and the union is blessed with children.
